7 Great Article Writing Tips

By Randa Kassisieh · Comments (0)

1. Subject Matters – The topic of your article needs to address the needs of the reader, like providing information or helping them solve a problem. Some possible titles would be: “10 Tips on Increasing Traffic” or “Why is Vitamin C Good for You?” Remember that the title needs to have most or all of your keywords in it.

2. Pick Keywords Carefully – Choose targeted words that represent the content of the article. Use only 2 or 3 keywords and ensure that at least one is used in the title. If you are new to this, you might want to look online at a website that has a keyword selection tool or one that will show you what the most searched keywords are for your particular niche or subject matter. Use your keywords sparingly throughout your article. No more than 3 instances. Some publishers have strict rules about this and will let you know if you have used certain keywords too often.

3. Make the Title Catchy – The title can either encourage or discourage the reader from reading the article. Don’t make it too long and make every word count. Use power words like: effective, boost, increase, or proven.

4. Be Concise – Even though article publishers allow longer articles, 400 to 500 words will inform and educate the reader without being cumbersome. Try to eliminate wordiness and keep it simple and clear. A well-written article of 400 words is better than having the reader muddle through a long article with extraneous words. Try to not repeat words too often but rather use synonyms to make your writing more interesting.

5. Use Bullet Points – These not only make your article easier to read and understand but help the reader focus on the most important points of your article.

6. Proofread Twice – You should not only proof your article once, but you should take a break and read it once more before submitting it to publishers. Revise if need be.

7. Simple Format – The basic format for an article is simply the beginning, middle, and end. Have a short introduction followed by the body of the article where you give all your tips or information. It is always a good idea to put in a brief summary at the conclusion to wrap it up.
